How to Train your Velociraptor at Eureka! this Summer

We're serving up six weeks of bubbles, pirates and dinosaurs this summer, with live entertainment, themed weekends and hands-on activities every day from 18 July to 31 August 2026.

With hundreds of hands-on exhibits, six interactive zones, a large outdoor play area (including a giant sandpit!) and the shady, sensory WonderWalk, Eureka! is ready for whatever the British summer decides to throw at families – come rain or shine.

The museum’s Summer Medley programme brings together three family-favourite themes: Bubbles, Pirates and Dinosaurs, alongside returning Eureka! favourites Gacko and Professor Pumpernickel.

The summer begins with two weeks of bubbles, with activities designed to keep children cool while sparking their curiosity.  The highlight – Bubblemania – will run from Friday 24 to Monday 27 July, featuring international expert and Guinness World Record holder Ray Bubbles. Families can expect giant bubbles, smoke spheres, art, visual effects and outdoor bubble play.

From 3 to 16 August, visitors can set sail for two weeks of pirate fun, including Pirates Ahoy from Friday 7 to Monday 10 August.  Join the Q20 Events Pirate Crew for live, swashbuckling theatre and walkabout comedy. Take part in treasure hunts, crafts and pirate-themed challenges. Families are encouraged to come dressed in their finest pirate clobber. Parrots optional.

The final two weeks of Summer Medley will take visitors back in time for a dinosaur takeover, including Dinosaurs Roar Weekend from Friday 21 to Monday 24 August. Expect a roaming velociraptor, baby dinosaurs and live “How to Train a Velociraptor” shows.

Throughout the holidays, families can also catch Gacko’s Summer Shows on selected dates, with songs, stories and silliness for all ages. Performances on 29 July will take place as part of Eureka!’s Relaxed SENDay and will include BSL interpretation.

Professor Pumpernickel’s Science Show will also run on selected dates across July and August, bringing explosive experiments and interactive science demonstrations to curious young minds.

Whether families are planning a full day out, returning with an annual pass or looking for something new to do during the school holidays, there’ll be something different to discover at Eureka! throughout the summer.
