Garden Explorers
Time: 10:15am – 11:15am

Explore our Under 5’s specific gallery, SoundGarden, with one of our friendly Enablers and watch your little ones as they immerse themselves in sensory play.
In these morning sessions, our staff will engage in free-form play with any Under 5’s visitors that wish to. We adapt to the needs of the families that are present in SoundGarden at that time. For example, we would tend to concentrate more on our sensory resources for babies, and either stories or games for slightly older children. We believe that these meaningful interactions are great opportunities for early stage learning.
We want to be as accessible as possible for our early years families, which is why we promise to have a member of the team in this gallery at this time each day specifically to interact with your little ones. This is also one of the few places in the museum that we can guarantee there will be no school groups at this time (or any time before 2:30pm!)
Storytime
Time: 2:30pm – 3:00pm
Location: The Bedroom
Our staff love telling stories! Which is why every day, Tuesday to Friday, you can find one of our Enablers delivering a fun and interactive storytime just for Under 5’s in The Bedroom. See the events board upon arrival for more information!
2:30pm onwards is when the museum is at its quietest, and when we encourage early years families to visit. As it is at this time we believe you guys will have the best experience!
We write on our events boards (near the front tills) every morning which member of staff will be our early years Enabler for that day and what story they plan to read in the afternoon. An example of this could be a cosy telling of The Hungry Caterpillar or The Gruffalo! The member of staff changes each day, and we try to rotate which stories we read, so you don’t get the same experience twice!
