Event Highlights

  2. See how balloons can be used to demonstrate engineering, maths, science and art in The Mouse Trap Balloon Show🎈 Mon 12th - Weds 14th February
  3. The School of Noise will be here to help you have fun exploring and being creative with sound🔊 Thurs 15th - Sun 18th February
  4. Roll up, roll up for The Science of Circus show and find out how performers use scientific principles in their tricks and stunts🤹 Mon 19th - 21st February
  5. Plus, especially for the under 5's, pop along to our Creativity Space and explore, experiment and be curious about the world of science🎨

Professor Pumpernickel’s Science Show
Sat 10, Sun 11, Thurs 22, Fri 23, Sat 24 & Sun 25 February

We’re kicking off our Science Carnival with our favourite blue-haired Prof, who will be investigating the science of sound and how fireworks work! If you like chaos, chemistry and almost losing your eyebrows, you’ll love Pumpernickel!

The Mouse Trap Balloon Show
Mon 12, Tues 13 & Weds 14 February

This show combines maths, science, engineering and art and explores pulleys, levers, wheels and other simple machines; culminating in the construction of a Rube Goldberg-style mousetrap… all made with balloons! Lots of volunteers are used in this fun, high energy and educational performance.

45min shows at 11:30am, 1:30pm & 3pm

School of Noise
Thurs 15, Fri 16, Sat 17 & Sun 18 February

Join the School of Noise and explore the science of sound and music with their eclectic range of musical instruments and scientific equipment. Have a go on a theremin, play with conductive materials to trigger sounds, discover beautiful cymatic patterns using vibration and lots more in this hands-on session.

Drop-in session from 11am-4pm

Science of the Circus
Mon 19, Tues 20 & Weds 21 February

Roll up, roll up and explore the science behind the thrills and spills of the circus. Dr Ken takes you on a voyage or discovery investigating how performers make use of many scientific principles in their tricks and stunts. Find out why jugglers love gravity, how clowns use the force like a Jedi and why unicyclists need to keep moving to stay still. It’s science but not as you may know it!

30min shows at 11:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm & 3:30pm
